Ladies and Gentlemen … Announcing

Aug 16:

the newest member of the Scrapy Land Design team. The official announcement was made by Susan on the Scrapy Land blog.

Mom spent quite a bit of time in her ‘clean and organized’ scrap room, with me guarding the house downstairs working on her submissions. She seemed to really enjoy doing the 3 projects. Her page was one with a picture of Sophia when Mom and Pat took her to have pictures taken at Portraits Innovation in Burlington.

Mom has never added a stamped image to her page, so she challenged herself to add a stamped image to the the page and only use one picture on the layout.

Next, mom worked on a little Thank You card.

I think she had some fun with textures and paper and then touched it off with using Sookwang (or ScorePal) tape and Kiwi Glitter, that she did something called burnishing. All I know is that I found a scrap of paper that Mom didn’t seem to want me to have, but was happy I found it for her. When Pat came home she wondered what the sparkly stuff on my nose was.

Mom’s last submission was a Trinket box that is topped with an easel card. I was hoping there was a cookie in one of the drawers for me, but sadly no.

I have spent some time with Mom in her studio as she is still so excited, working on projects that will be published on the Scrapy Land blog. So come along with me as I keep you up to date with Mom’s and my journey over the next several months.

Take care

Mom tells me she will be sharing the projects she submitted after Susan has published them the the Scrapy Land blog.

This morning I spent some time in Mom’s scrap room as she needed a small birthday card. Mom made this little 3x3 card. Mom loves these little cards.  Hope you like it.

I am Not Sure ….

where Mom is. She has been gone for many days. I’m not sure how many as I really can’t count, but I am sad and missing her very much.

Pat tells me that Mom has gone to visit her friend Marnie in Vancouver.

Pat_Missy

I know Marnie, as she came here to visit us a couple of summers ago. So I guess that it is OK that Mom is away and having a good time with Marnie.

Mom sent home some pictures of a Trinket box she made while at a crop this past Saturday with Marnie. It is her first Trinket Box and she learned a lot doing it. (add on: Mom asked me to let you know that she followed the directions for the Trinket Box on Kirsten's Blog, she made a slight change to the scoring of the drawer sleeve – she scored it at 1”, 3 1/2”, 4 1/2” and then 7”)

As well, it was her first 5 1/2 square card. She told us that she liked having the extra room to play in.

So here are the pictures she wanted to share:

Mom used the new Basic Gray Kioshi paper as her pattern paper and the card stock is from Bazzill. The drawer pulls are the covered brads from BG Kioshi. The ribbon was from her stash and the flowers were from the wedding section at Michaels.

Here is what the little drawers look like close up.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out Mom’s latest work. I hear the next card may have a puppy on it. Can’t wait to see it!

Mom’s Away …

She is away at a Girl’s Weekend Retreat – Stamping, Scrapbooking, Lots of creative new friends and she left me at home! She spent some time doing her 2nd Tilda card.

First she was going to mask, then she decided to cut out and color. I’m not sure what either of those things mean, but I think the card is pretty. Mom’s says we are going to use it for a birthday card.

Mom will post the colors later (she tells me she can edit this post). She colors on a piece of scrap to help her decide what colors to use.

Hope you like the card.

Happy Birthday Card

Mom has been a bit distracted over the last couple of days, but this morning she went up to her studio and completed a simple easel card.

The pattern paper is from Chatterbox, which was from her stash. I am really proud of her for using paper from her stash as opposed to running to the store to buy more. Although, that would have meant a ride in the car for me – what was I thinking!

The butterflies were the punch outs from the Martha Stewart border punch from another project. The Nestabilities is Label Eleven

HB_Tilda_2Here is a picture of the card open. The HB stamp is from Print Works.

Mom’s First Tilda …

Mom finally has shown me her first Tilda – I have to say she is really cute. Her name is Happy Tilda from the Raising the Ceiling Collection (sorry she is out of stock at the moment).

1st_Tilda

Mom picked the following Copics for her:
Skin: E00, E02, R11;
Outfit: B93, B95, B97, R32;
Socks: B00 (for the white effect);
Hair; E33, E31.
Highlights Sharpie Extra Fine White pen;
Paper: Neenah

Mom doesn’t look totally satisfied – she says she needs to get better with highlights.

I was a little camera shy this am and didn’t want Mom taking my picture.

Blog Candy

My Mom spent a little time surfing this morning (not sure what surfing is, but Mom seems to like it!). She was excited to find something called ‘blog candy’.  Mom says you have to check out the Blog Candy over at Paper Hugs with Di.  Diane does some wonderful work for sure. Pop on by if you have the time.

My name is Missy and I’m Mom’s Helper…

but I’m not very good with sharp implements and because I don’t have a thumb, it is very hard to hold the paper, pick up buttons and add glue dots!

But I’m am really good at letting Mom know when there is someone at the front door

Mom has a nice bed for me upstairs in her Studio, but I prefer to stay downstairs guarding the house.

It is very hard work! I get very sleepy …. and need a nap!

Please drop by often to check up on me and of course to check out some of my Mom’s crafty work! I understand she received some wonderful Magnolia stamps, but I will keep which ones a secret. She is stamping and coloring today.
